My Story: From Horse Trainer to Rideshare Advocate

For 35 years, I devoted my life to being a harness driver and horse trainer, a profession that requires discipline, patience, and resilience. I worked tirelessly, putting my heart and soul into caring for and guiding those magnificent animals, building a career that demanded physical and emotional endurance.

When I retired from the horse racing world, I sought a new way to earn a living—something flexible that would allow me to remain active and engaged. Driving for Uber and Lyft seemed like the perfect opportunity. I could set my own hours, meet new people, and continue to work in a way that felt meaningful.

But what I found was far from what I had hoped.

For seven years, I worked as a rideshare driver. At first, it seemed like a good way to make ends meet, but over time, the cracks in the system became impossible to ignore. The pay began to dwindle as the companies took increasingly larger cuts of every fare. Expenses like gas, maintenance, and insurance continued to climb, leaving my earnings at substandard levels. The promises of flexibility and opportunity were overshadowed by the harsh reality: I was working harder than ever and earning less.

The wear and tear on my vehicle mirrored the wear and tear on my spirit. I realized that no matter how many hours I put in, I could not achieve a decent paycheck. The effort, the sacrifices, the long hours behind the wheel—it was all unsustainable.

Eventually, I made the painful decision to resign. I could no longer justify staying in an industry that undervalued its most important asset: the drivers.

That decision, though difficult, marked the beginning of something bigger. I knew I wasn’t alone in my struggles. Thousands of drivers across the country were facing the same challenges, feeling the same frustrations, and wondering when things would change. I decided that if no one else was going to fight for us, I would step up and lead the charge.

A Movement for Change

That’s why I founded the Rideshare Group Organization. I refuse to stand by while drivers are exploited by billion-dollar companies that rely on our labor but fail to recognize our worth. I refuse to let another driver feel the hopelessness I felt as the bills piled up and the paychecks shrank.

RSG exists to unite us—to give every driver a voice and the power to demand change. Together, we can achieve:

  • Fair and Transparent Compensation: Drivers deserve a living wage that reflects the value of their time, effort, and resources.

  • Support for Vehicle Expenses: Companies must share the burden of maintenance, insurance, and fuel costs.

  • Dignity and Respect: Rideshare drivers are professionals providing a critical service, and we will no longer accept being treated as disposable.

I am committed to this fight, and I will not stop until we achieve what we deserve. But I cannot do it alone. This movement depends on you—on drivers across the country standing together and demanding better.

Our Stand: United We Are Stronger

Change doesn’t come easily, and we will face challenges along the way. The companies we are challenging are powerful and resourceful, but they are nothing without us. We are the foundation of this industry, and it’s time for us to recognize our strength.

By uniting under RSG, we send a clear message: we will no longer be ignored. We are not just drivers; we are the lifeblood of the rideshare economy. If Uber and Lyft wish to avoid unionization, they must meet our demands for fair compensation and better conditions. If they fail to do so, then we will take the necessary steps to ensure our voices are heard and our rights are protected.

This is more than a fight for fair pay—it’s a fight for our dignity, our livelihoods, and the future of this industry.

Join the Movement

To every driver reading this, I want you to know: I see you. I understand your struggles because I’ve lived them. I know what it’s like to put in endless hours and feel like it’s never enough. But together, we can change that.

This is our moment. Let’s stand united and demand the respect and fairness we deserve. Join the Rideshare Group Organization today and be part of a movement that will shape the future of ridesharing—not just for us, but for generations of drivers to come.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we will succeed.

The road ahead won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Let’s drive change together.

Warm regards,
